The Big News

Well everybody, here it is. The big news. I know its been longer than I said, but I've been busy.

I fixed our ceiling!!! Well for most of you your probably lost. Well about 3-4 months ago we had a little water damage and some of our ceiling came down and some was hanging so I needed to rip that part down also. I won't get into the details, but we had some people over and were drinking very heavily and someone left the water on in the upstairs bathroom. It was a little clogged so it over flowed and was on all night. The thing that killed me the most was I was at the store a couple days earlier and had drano in my hand, but was only there to pick up a couple things and it was $5 so I put it back and got other stuff.

So all in all for the past 4 months I had about a 3 foot by 4 foot hole into he ceiling. After all the cleaning having a big hole in the ceiling wasn't too bad. It grew on me. Well it was time to fix it and one of my friends came over and helped me fix the hole at 9 am in the morning. I told my roommate that he was coming over and that we were going to fix the hole. What he didn't know is that was going to make some noise. He went out drinking the night before and wasn't too happy with all the noise and came down cause I had said that we might need help. His help was minimal and his heckling irritating. All in all my friend and I got the hole patched and one coat of joint compound up. During the week I(myself) as my roommate sat on the chair continued to put up joint compound and sand a total of three times. Granted I have a 50 hour a week job and he sits around all day. I did it myself. I painted last weekend and have been on a high everyday since. It actually looks like there wasn't any hole in the ceiling at all. It is great. I never thought I would be so happy. I think now I have crossed over into the handy man stage.

Mouse Trap

Over the weekend there were some reports that we had a mouse at my house. I had never seen the mouse, but my roommate saw him/her several times. So I went out and bought some mouse traps and some peanut butter for them and set them up in the kitchen and dining room. After a couple days I cleaned them and put more peanut butter thinking the reason that we didn't catch anything was because I had bad peanut butter.

Well that wasn't the case. The mouse is too smart for that. He didn't fall for it one bit. Well my roommate had a great idea, take a box, a piece of wood, some rope, and a saltine cracker and make his own trap. I know right, I saw this in cartoons where the coyote tried to catch the roadrunner to no avail. Well I thought to myself, there is no way this is going to work. Well last night it did.

The trap was set up in the dining room right by the kitchen and Tim, my roommate, lay stalking the mouse in the living room. After about an hour of some taunting by the mouse it ran back in the dining room and looked as though he was going under the couch and he made a B line towards the kitchen and right then the string was pulled and the mouse was trapped. I'm not sure that he was going to the cracker, but that is beside the point. So we went up to the box and it was dark so we thought it was caught, but wanted to look to make sure. We cut the bottom and open it up and I saw that he was in there. Tim wanted to see so we opened it up again and he tried to jump out, but I got the flap down just in time to hit him back in the box. He continued to try to jump out. With your hand on the top you could feel him hitting the top of the box. We then thought on how we would get it out. We took and piece of card board and slipped it under, but it got almost the whole way and got caught on the other side. The then slipped a book cover under the card board to the other side and took him outside down the street. We placed the box way down the street and put it on the ground to let him go. After we put the box down it was like he needed to get reaclimated because he sat there for about 15 seconds then jumped out of the box and ran off. If he comes back, we are killing him next time. The first offence you get off the second offence the punishment is death. I was so wired and excited that I didn't get to sleep til after 4 this morning. I'm thinking that there is more than one, cause there is never just one mouse. At least now we know how to catch it.'

Free Lights

So I've had a tail light out for about a week or so. I have been alittle busy, but mostly just kept on forgetting to go out and get one. So Tues during lunch I told myself that I was going to get it fixed. I went to the local NAPA auto parts store right by work and walked in like I had no clue what I was doing. Well I didn't know really where to start.
So I ask the guy behind the counter "I'm looking for a tail light."
He replied "I got them right here."
I said great then gave him my car make and model so he could retreive my tail light. He then asked if it was a two light tail light. I thought that if it were two lights then half would work, and the whole thing was out so I said I believe it is just one. Then I asked how much this light would cost. He looked at the computer and said a dollar. Well thats great, but I dont have any cash. I figured it would be a couple dollars and all I had was credit. I said it kindof sucks charging a dollar and he agreed and said for me just to take it, that they'll get me next time. It's only a dollar, but that kindof made my day. Free tail light, sweet. So I got a free tail light and now if I need to get auto parts I will go to NAPA again.

Flip Cup

So yesterday while it was snowing like crazy me and some of my friends on our kickball team entered a flip cup tournament at Mothers in Federal Hill. The projected start time of this tourney was 11 AM. Early right, I really didn't want to start drinking that early on a Saturday, but it was for a good cause. It was $15 a person and each team consisted of 8 people, 4 guys and 4 girls. The promotion was $1 Coors Light. I don't really care for Coors Light, well I hate Coors Light, but for a dollar it wont take long for me not to care any more. Along with the entry fee all the money from every Coors Light sold between 11 AM and 6 PM went to Breast Cancer.

So we all meet in Canton at 10, well everyone but me. I was running late and had just woken up at 10. I rushed out the door and made it to Canton in record time. Once I walked it didn't take long for them to notice that I had a long night the night before and really was still a little drunk. A real good feeling I might add. Nothing like waking up drunk and starting drinking. So we all get into an SUV and truck down to Mothers. We walk in and the place is starting to get a little packed and there are people eating and drinking at the bar. Then as I'm at the bar a guy turns to me and asks what is going on that there are a lot of people here. I replied that a flip cup tourament was going on. That is when I noticed that just about everyone downstairs was not in the tourney, they were all just there to drink at 11 AM in the morning. Great, my kind of bar. We venture upstairs and tell the coordinator that we are here and they put our team name on the bracket on the wall. Upstairs you couldn't tell that it was 11:30 AM on a Saturday, it was packed. Told us that they would call us when it was our turn to play. The rules are the same as when you play at a party. The matches were best out of three. We get up there and kick the other teams ass the first game. It was great, but it didn't last long. That proved to be our only win all day. We lost our next two games to go in the consolation bracket and when that came around we lost two games there also. It really wasn't so bad though cause then we just got some chairs and kept on drinking. I can almost say there was no point in the day from when I woke up till I went to sleep I sober. I say almost cause it makes me feel less like an alcoholic.

We waited out the crowd at Mothers, cause after most teams lost they just left and the bar went back to normal. Then it was our great idea to head to Canton to continue drinking, and well close some bars down there. I wasn't really on board with this idea, but well I couldn't really put together a sentence at this point so it didn't matter what I thought.

Well it was a great Saturday.

Am I Growing Up?

I haven't really done much the past few days. I went out Friday night and drank, what I do most weekends, saw some kids get into a fight(wow I just called people at a bar kids, I must be old). I think it was because one kid had his collar up higher up than the other one. I'm not quite sure.

So back to what I came to blog about cause I really don't get on here to much. I've been doing a lot of thinking about buying a house. I have a pretty good job, saved up a fair amount of money the past year and a half and feel like I should do something with it. This is a big step. I don't have too many expenses and frankly a mortgage payment scares me. I can't afford much, my job isn't that good, so I might be stretching it a little. I think if I get a roommate or two I could swing it and hopefully make some money when I go to sell. The housing prices have increased dramatically over the past five years in the area and it almost seems like they couldn't go any higher. Maybe it is the no turning back aspect, once I sign that line I am almost forever indebted to the bank. Up until now the biggest purchase I have made was my car, which is paid off, and it took me a long to time to buy that sucker. I don't know I'm just rambling here to get some feed back. I'll keep this thing updated when I decided to do something. I'll probably have something by the end of the week. Who knows

Great Weekend

One of our friends Jim goes to school at the University of Arizona and was home for Christmas break and we all went out downtown to Federal Hill because he was leaving to go back Saturday. It was a fun night, a lot of beers and good friends. So I ended up staying at Kmart and ACWs apartment that night. The way things worked out I had left my car by my work and on Saturday I needed someone to drive me to my car. It was a long night so I didn't really move until after 12 and needed to bribe Kmart with lunch to take me back to my car. We invited the the ACW and ACWGF to go, but ACW said that he had a stomach ache and didn't want to go. I was like OK maybe all the liquor the night before upset his stomach. I really didn't see this one coming. ACWGF = ACWF
